Diapers and bottles and bibs, oh my!

My best efforts to maintain a clutter-free environment in our home have failed... miserably! It is all piling up. Who would ever imagine that such a little person, yet to be born no less, could require so much stuff? Now don't get me wrong, we are eternally grateful for all the generous gifts (and there have been many of them -- we are very fortunate). I just never imagined what it would all amount to!

And I have organized my heart out, arranging and rearranging every last book, toy and tube of butt paste. All that precious storage space in the nursery closet that I couldn't imagine needing for the baby, is gone! Scott and I continue to laugh about needing a bigger house. A pipe dream at this point -- for now we will make due and count it as a blessing that our lack of storage space will prevent our buying unnecessary items.

So shower number two was a huge success, thanks to my best friend since birth (literally), Danielle, my sweet little sister, Katrina, and my over-indulgent but loving mother. Mom, who swore she would never be like her mother or mother-in-law, regretfully has become just that. She needs to control her shopping! We had more food than we had serving platters, and the company was delightful. A wonderful time was had by all, and I even managed to shed a few tears. Leave it to Mom, a.k.a. 'Nana,' to to ensure that Madelyn's great-grandpa Nic sent a piggy bank full of pennies from heaven for his first great-grand baby! I will treasure the gifts, and those moments forever, and cannot wait to share them with my daughter.

The days seems to be going by so slowly at this point, partly because I am not getting much sleep! We are both starting to get impatient in this wait to meet our little one. Only five more weeks to go, and I can hardly stand it. However, at the same time, that's only four more weekends alone with my husband, 37 more days to prepare for the big arrival and 268 more diapers to stockpile until I feel like "we're ready." Oh yeah, and 1.9 million more trips to the ladies room!

And Scott just walked in announcing "I need a vacation!" Good luck with that one, buddy!
